nylon
ATRAMAT NYLON is a monofilament, non-absorbable surgical suture of synthetic origin. Due to its high tensile strength and controlled elongation, ATRAMAT NYLON ensures secure adaptation of wound edges. Its smooth tissue penetration, combined with a precise needle-to-thread transition, minimizes tissue trauma and thus promotes optimal wound healing. These physical properties, coupled with minimal tissue reaction, make it an ideal suture material for a wide variety of tissue types.
ATRAMAT NYLON is offered with a wide range of atraumatic, precision-sharpened needles of the highest quality, enabling excellent cosmetic results. For details on our needles and available needle shapes, please refer to our separate information brochure and detailed product catalog.

Polypropylene
ATRAMAT POLYPROPYLENE is a monofilament, non-absorbable surgical suture of synthetic origin. Due to its high tensile strength and controlled elongation, ATRAMAT POLYPROPYLENE ensures secure adaptation of wound edges. The precise, computer-controlled, dimensionally accurate transition from needle to thread guarantees smooth tissue passage, even through calcified tissue or atherosclerotic plaques. These physical attributes, combined with minimal tissue reaction, make it an ideal suture material for cardiac and vascular surgery.
ATRAMAT POLYPROPYLENE is offered with a wide range of atraumatic, precision-sharpened needles of the highest quality, enabling excellent surgical results. Specialized needles for cardiac and vascular surgery are also available. For details on our needles and available needle shapes, please refer to our separate information brochure and detailed product catalog.
Application areas
Cardiac and vascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology
Characteristics
- synthetic origin
- non absorbable
- monofilament material of uniform thickness

- gentle tissue passage, thus minimizing tissue trauma and optimizing wound healing
- guaranteed product sterility
- Excellent visibility in the surgical area
Danger:
ATRAMAT POLYPROPYLENE is resistant even to continuous, repetitive tensile stress and is therefore ideal for cardiovascular procedures where a loss of tensile strength cannot be tolerated in the long term with regard to permanent tissue support. It is neither absorbed nor broken down by tissue enzymes.

silk
ATRAMAT SILK is a multifilament, non-absorbable surgical suture of organic origin. The underlying protein is derived from the cultivated silkworm pupa, Bombyx mori. The natural glue and wax layer is removed before braiding. ATRAMAT SILK, with its high tensile strength and controlled elongation, ensures secure adaptation of wound edges. The special silicone coating, combined with a precise needle-to-thread transition, guarantees smooth tissue passage, thus minimizing tissue trauma and promoting optimal wound healing. Tissue reaction is moderate.
ATRAMAT SILK offers a wide range of atraumatic, precision-sharpened needles of the highest quality, enabling excellent surgical results. For details on our needles and available needle shapes, please refer to our separate information brochure and detailed product catalog.
Application areas
General surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental surgery, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, gynecology and obstetrics
Characteristics
- organic origin
- non absorbable
- braided multifilament material
- Premium quality raw material
- bioinert
- Excellent knotability with secure knot hold
- hermetically sealed packaging
- ideal biocompatibility with only minimal tissue reaction
- gentle tissue passage, thus minimizing tissue trauma and optimizing wound healing
- guaranteed product sterility

Danger:
While the tensile strength is maintained over a long period, it decreases over time due to tissue encapsulation. Therefore, ATRAMAT SILK is not suitable for indications requiring permanent suture stability. ATRAMAT SILK must not be used in patients with a silk allergy or sensitivity. Furthermore, due to the risk of stone formation, ATRAMAT SILK is not suitable for urological procedures or gallbladder surgery.
